[TUTORIAL] Decompiling and Recompiling

Note: Do it with your own risk !
What is decompiling? Android apps are BASICALLY made up of Java codes and XML files. After compiling the app, these files cannot be viewed. Decompiling is a process which decompiles the binary form of XMLs and .Java files into readable form. The XML files can be retained as it is, but the .java files are converted into smali files, a totally different language.

What is recompiling? Recompiling is simply a way to convert the XML and smali files back into the binary form and building up of the APK with the changes made. All apps after recompiled have to be signed (except system apps).

Requirements :
JRE ( Java Runtime Environment )
apktool (with APK signer) ( extract it in C:/apk )
Steps :
1. Choose what .apk you wish to mod. . ( ex: framework-res.apk )
2. Place it in the same folder as apktool & rename it to ( framework-stock.apk)
3. Navigate to C:\apk by typing :

Code:
cd C:\apk

then, type this :
Code:
C:\apk>apktool if framework-stock.apk
DECOMPILING :
In cmd, type :
C:\apk>apktool d framework-res.apk frame
this will put decompiled files to a folder named "frame"
Now, you can MOD the framework !
And when you're done, recompile it.
COMPILING :
In cmd, type :
Code:
C:\apk>apktool b frame framework.apk
and you're DONE !
now you've created a signed framework-res.apk and you can push it to your system !

UPDATE :
now you can easily decompile and recompile APKs easily by downloading x-TOOLS by Gagan  ! ( link above )

Partition tutorial ( FAT, EXT & Swap )

Warning : This may degrade your sdcard's life, and deletes all your data on your sdcard. So you should backup everything first.

What you need :
- MiniTool Partition
- 4GB/higher class 6/10
- A card reader
- MicroSD Adapter
- Latest Busybox
- init.d support ( for linux swap )

How to :
1. Connect your sdcard to PC ( sdcard>Adapter>Card Reader>PC )
2. Open MiniTool Partition.
3. See your sdcard information down there.
4. Right click 'Disk 2' and select Delete all partition.
5. Right click Unallocated > Create > Primary > FAT32>OK
6. Then right click FAT32> Move/Resize>and drag that arrow on the right to whatever the size you want. ( as for me,I leave 'Unallocated space after' until 1GB, because my sdcard is only 4GB ).
7. Now you should have another Unallocated space.
Now this is what to add :
- FAT32 Information :
This partition is for main data, like songs, pics, videos, etc so make the capacity large enough.
Create as : primary
File system : FAT32
( save ¼ for ext/swap )

- EXT  Partition ( EXT2, EXT3, EXT4)
This one is like a2sd, it's like a virtual internal memory .
Create as : Primary
File system : EXT2, EXT3, or EXT4
( 1,25 GB is enough, really. )

- Linux Swap Partition :
This is like, virtual RAM, some say the bigger you swap, the effect is greater, but some says that making it bigger doesn't really do anything.
Create as : Primary
File system : Linux Swap
( 100MB is enough, I think ? ).
Download this script to activate swap ( install via CWM ) but your ROM should support init.d

DON'T FORGET TO CLICK APPLY WHEN YOU'RE DONE.

Should smooth out disconnects and reconnects, saving battery.
ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=1000

Raises quality of images
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=90
ro.media.dec.jpeg.memcap=8000000

ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
ro.kernel.checkjni=0

Use Jit (Dalvik just-in-time compiler)
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit

Enable Surface dithering (Improves image quality at the cost of performance)
persist.sys.use_dithering=1

Allow purging of assets (System can free more Ram when needed)
persist.sys.purgeable_assets=1

Disable animation for faster startup
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1

Wifi to scan less frequently
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180

Add these tweaks at the very bottom of the script.

2. Open Rootex, move !Autostarts - Enable init.d on StockROMS.sh to /sdcard/gscript
3. Open Gscript> press Menu> add script> select !Autostarts - Enable init.d on StockROMS.sh > save.

List of build.prop tweaks for SGY

Root Explorer

Saves power
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=1
pm.sleep_mode=2
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=60
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180

*If you don’t keep Wi-Fi active lowering the value below the default of 90 seems to make Wi-Fi connect faster after being turned on but will consume more power if turning Wi-Fi off has been forgotten when not in range of a known network.

Should smooth out disconnects and reconnects, saving battery.
ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=1000

Raises quality of images
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=90
ro.media.dec.jpeg.memcap=8000000
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=8000000

Increased Media & Streaming Performance
media.stagefright.enable-player=true *
media.stagefright.enable-meta=true

Disable error checking (Should speed things up a bit)
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
ro.kernel.checkjni=0

Use Jit (Dalvik just-in-time compiler)
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit

Enable Surface dithering (Improves image quality at the cost of performance)
persist.sys.use_dithering=1

Allow purging of assets (System can free more Ram when needed)
persist.sys.purgeable_assets=1

Disable animation for faster startup
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1

Wifi to scan less frequently
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180

Add these tweaks at the very bottom of the script.
Reboot to take effect. Don't forget to wipe cache ( user's belief )
